Born on the prairies of western Minnesota, Matt Ray is a self-taught musician who was surrounded by music growing up. Both Matt's father and mother were active musicians, and Matt was often found sleeping in guitar cases or behind drum sets as a young child.

Painfully shy, and somewhat socially awkward, Matt's style stems from a variety of sources, that are as diverse as Matt's musical background. Blues, folk, jug band and rock are just a few of the styles you can expect to hear when you see Matt perform.

Not only is his style unique and entertaining, but Matt's performances are often filled with story telling and musical history. As someone once said about his performance, "He may not hit every not technically right, but I can guarantee that you will FEEL his performance right down to your bones!"
